Heat Advisory In Effect Between 4,000 And 7,000 Feet Until Friday Night

The Heat Advisory that was in place for most of last week has been extended until 8 p.m. Friday for most of Northern Arizona. The National Weather Service says the advisory is in effect for areas between four-thousand and seven-thousand feet.  The heat will subside with any thunderstorms that may pop up thanks to the beginning of the Monsoon, however forecasters say it won’t be enough to back off on the recent heat we’ve been seeing.  Officials say to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. If you are outside and need help, call 911.
