A Growing Fire On The Kaibab National Forest Activates A Type-2 Management Team

A lightning-caused wildfire on the Kaibab National Forest has grown quickly. The Kane Fire began Friday and quickly spread to over 32-hundred acres with no containment. The lightning-caused fire is about 13 miles southeast of Jacob Lake, 11 miles south of Highway 89A and five miles east of State Route 67. The fire is burning in timber, thick brush and pinyon-juniper. A Type-2 team is in charge of managing the fire. Smoke is visible across Northern Arizona with winds expecting to drive smoke to the northeast.
