A Fire Weather Watch And Wind Advisory Issued For Monday For Northern Arizona

A Fire Weather Watch and a Wind Advisory will be in effect for Northern Arizona Monday. The National Weather Service says winds will be high and humidities low from Monday morning through Monday evening. The watch area includes: Prescott, Prescott Valley, Holbrook, Winslow, The White Mountains, parts of the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Nation. The Wind Advisory will be for all of Northern Arizona. Winds are forecast to be 25-to-30 miles-per-hour with gusts of 40-to-50 miles per hour at times. The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them. Make sure not to throw cigarettes out of your vehicles and if you are pulling a trailer, make sure chains aren’t dragging on the road. Sparks from the chains can easily start a wildfire.
