A Dispatcher’s Small Error During Training Leads To A Scary Alert Sent To Cordes Lakes Resident Recently

A dispatcher with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office made a small error last week during weekly training. On Wednesday, residents of Cordes Lakes were sent a message through the YCSO Emergency Notification System, that there were “a pack of vicious mountain lions in the area.” The message was an error and it was sent after one of the dispatchers hit “enter” instead of saving the message instead. Even though the message was canceled immediately, it still managed to reach 695 people. A follow-up message was sent out saying there were no active threats or emergency.
