Aubrey Fire Is 70-Percent Contained, Seven Miles Northwest Of Seligman Tuesday

The “Aubrey Fire” has burned around 38-hundred acres and is 70-percent contained. The fire actually started as 12 separate fires seven miles northwest of Seligman and just to the south, and burning on both sides of Route 66 along the Yavapai and Coconino county line Tuesday. The fires quickly spread due to windy conditions. Fire crews stopped forward progress of the fire at around 6 p.m. State Forestry officials say the fires were human caused and likely were started by a vehicle dragging tow chains down the roadway. There are no reports of any damage.
